New Delhi, 22 July (H.S.): The Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until noon on Wednesday after opposition members created an uproar over allegations of NEET-UG paper leaks and the police response to student protests in Delhi.

Opposition MPs demanded accountability from the government, raising concerns over examination irregularities and the alleged use of force against students during demonstrations. The protests intensified after opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other leaders, were detained during a march supporting protesting students.

Congress MP K.C. Venugopal moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, seeking a statement from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on alleged paper leak cases reported during his tenure. He also demanded that the minister accept moral responsibility over the issue.

The opposition has accused the government of failing to ensure transparency in competitive examinations and has called for stronger action to protect the interests of students and job aspirants.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha continued its proceedings as scheduled. The Upper House was set to discuss reports related to defence matters, including delays in the production of the Dhanush artillery system and issues concerning defective ammunition.

In the Lok Sabha, several key legislative matters were also listed for discussion, including the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, which is expected to be moved by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.

The latest disruption marks another stormy day in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with opposition parties continuing their protest over student-related concerns, examination transparency and the handling of demonstrations.
