New Delhi, 10 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, on Friday as the third leg of his two-nation tour, where he was received at the airport by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who welcomed him personally in a rare diplomatic gesture.

Sharing an update on X after his arrival, Prime Minister Modi said, I have just arrived in Auckland. I am grateful to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon for welcoming me at the airport. This is a historic visit, as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in four decades. I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Luxon and to reviewing every aspect of the India–New Zealand friendship. I will also address a community programme in Auckland tomorrow.

Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Auckland for a two-day official visit after completing the earlier legs of his two-nation tour. The visit marks the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in four decades.

During his stay, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Luxon will hold bilateral talks to review the full spectrum of India–New Zealand relations. The discussions are expected to cover significant progress achieved over the past two years in areas including trade, commerce and defence cooperation.

While in Auckland, the Prime Minister will also interact with leading personalities from the business and sporting communities. In addition, he will address a gathering of the Indian diaspora as part of his official programme during the visit.
