Kolkata, 08 June (H.S.) : The death of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mihir Ghosh has triggered a sharp political confrontation, with TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee launching a strong attack on the BJP, alleging political violence behind the incident.
Mihir Ghosh, the TMC zonal president from Mangalkot in East Burdwan, died on Monday after battling for life for seven days following a violent attack. His death has intensified political tensions in the region.
In a post on social media platform X, Abhishek Banerjee alleged that Ghosh was dragged out of his home, publicly humiliated, and brutally assaulted by miscreants allegedly backed by the BJP. He said the dedicated party worker ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Banerjee further stated that the incident was not merely an attack but an example of “state-supported political violence,” claiming it has left a family devastated after losing their loved one.
He also questioned the deteriorating law and order situation, asking how many more lives would be lost before those responsible are held accountable, and demanded that the BJP government be brought under scrutiny over the incident.
The incident has added fresh fuel to the ongoing political clash between the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP in West Bengal.
