Guwahati, 28 June (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned a 345 kWp on-grid rooftop solar power plant at the Agartala Coaching Depot, marking a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainable railway infrastructure.

The solar plant is generating more electricity than the depot currently consumes, with surplus power being exported to the grid. The initiative is expected to reduce dependence on conventional electricity, lower energy costs, cut carbon emissions and support Indian Railways' commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.----------
