Prayagraj, 25 June (HS): In Prayagraj, Leader of Opposition
in Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Umang Singhar, held a press conference
and raised serious questions about the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, increasing
corruption in the country's examination system, failures of NTA and informed
about the nationwide Chattron Ki Goonj campaign launched by the
Indian National Congress. He said the NEET-UG 2026 incident has once again
demonstrated that the country's examination system is facing a serious crisis
of trust. Paper leaks, exam cancellations, delayed results, and mismanagement
of the admissions process have affected millions of students and their
families.
Launch of the Students' Echo campaign: Indian National Congress has
launched nationwide Chattron Ki Goonj campaign from 25 June to 9 August
2026. This 40-day campaign will be run among students, competitive exam
aspirants, coaching institutes, college campuses, libraries and youth groups in
28 major cities of the country. Gherao of Collectorate in all 28 cities on 1st
August 2026, siege of Delhi Parliament on 9th August 2026, so that the voice of
the students reaches the Central Government directly.
The campaign aims to raise the voice of students and youth at the national
level whose hard work is being affected due to repeated paper leaks,
cancellation of exams, delay in recruitment and failures of the examination
system.
NEET-UG 2026 raises a crisis of confidence: According to media reports, the
NEET-UG exam held on May 3, 2026 had to be cancelled following allegations of
paper leak and the case was handed over to the CBI. More than 20 lakh medical
candidates faced the situation of re-appearing for the examination. Umang
Singhar said that this was not just a case of cancellation of exams but a
direct blow to the preparation, confidence and mental peace of lakhs of
students. If persons connected with the examination process had access to the
question paper, it is not merely an external failure but a serious weakness
within the system.
Paper leaks are now a national problem: According to various reports, dozens of
national and state level examinations have been affected by allegations of
paper leak in the past years.
According to a Newslaundry report, around 6.5 crore candidates were affected by
89 suspected paper leak cases in the last 10 years. As per an India Today
report, at least 64 major exams were affected by paper leak allegations since
2019, including 45 government recruitment exams. Umang Singhar said that this
is not just a question of education, but a question of employment of the youth,
their future and the hopes of their families.
Paper leak mafia and failure of the examination system: Paper leak is no longer
just a matter of a few students cheating, but it has taken the form of an
organised network. Various investigations and reports have revealed the role of
vendor agencies, printing presses, transportation chain, examination centres,
middlemen and solver gangs. Umang Singhar said that the government expects hard
work from the students, but is unable to preserve even a single question paper.
This is not paper leak, this is future leak. This is not exam
reform, this is exam scam.
Main demands of the Congress: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should
resign. An impartial investigation should be conducted into his possible links
to the paper leak mafia, vendor agencies, officials, and political patronage. The
entire examination system must be overhauled. The NTA, paper setting, printing,
transportation, exam centers, digital systems, and vendor contracts must be
audited and secured at every stage. The established annual examination and
recruitment calendar should be implemented. Exam dates, result dates, and
recruitment deadlines should be announced in advance and strictly adhered to.
Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar quipped, “Why is Modi not accepting
Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation? Education in the country is no longer a
right, it has become a business!
Students are not failing, rather the Ministry of Education and NTA are failing
the students.
When students' confidence is broken in national level examinations, then
accountability should also be fixed at the national level. This fight is not
about any one exam, but a fight for the future of crores of students of the
country. The theft of students' future will no longer be tolerated.”
