New Delhi, 23 June (H.S.):
Several families lost their homes and shops after a fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit, broke out late Monday night in Valmiki Basti, located in Delhi Gate Ward. Following the incident, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, accompanied by local Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal, Chandni Chowk District President Arvind Garg, and Delhi BJP Office Co-incharge Amit Gupta, visited the site on Tuesday to meet the affected families and shopkeepers and assist with the ongoing relief efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Malhotra said the devastating fire had rendered 15 families homeless. He said the affected families had lost their homes and belongings, and the Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with them in this difficult time. Although the blaze damaged several houses and shops, BJP workers and the government remain committed to providing every possible assistance to the victims, he added.
Malhotra said local party workers were making arrangements for temporary accommodation for the affected families and providing them with ration, clothing, and other essential supplies. He added that all possible support would continue in the coming days, keeping in view the needs of the affected families.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that it was extremely unfortunate that the area's MLA, Ale Mohammad, had not visited the Hindu families and nearly 15 shopkeepers affected by Monday night's fire or extended any assistance to them even by Tuesday afternoon.
