New Delhi, June 23 (HS): Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying George Kurian resigned from the Union Council of Ministers on Tuesday, with President Droupadi Murmu accepting his resignation with immediate effect.

According to a communiqué issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President accepted Kurian's resignation on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution.

The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri George Kurian from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution, the communiqué said.

No reason for the resignation was immediately disclosed.
