Imphal, 19 June (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of successful operations across the state over the last 24 hours, rescuing an abducted civilian and arresting nine active militant cadres linked to various insurgent outfits involved in extortion, illegal arms supply and grenade-related activities.

In Tengnoupal district, security forces rescued 50-year-old Ngamsom Baite of B. Bongjang village, Moreh, from the Gate No. 1 area under Moreh Police Station on June 18. He had allegedly been abducted from his village by suspected PSH cadres. Following the rescue operation, Baite was safely reunited with his family members.

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces apprehended four active cadres of KCP (MFL) from different locations in Kakching district. The arrested individuals were identified as Moirangthem Tondomba Singh alias Teme (44), Wahengbam Inao Singh alias Jack (46), Nongmaithem David Meitei (42) and Maibam Lokendro Singh (38). According to officials, the group was involved in extortion activities and the illegal supply of arms.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police arrested four active cadres of KCP (PWG) from Imphal East district for their alleged involvement in planting hand grenades at multiple locations, including a residence at Brahmapur Nahabam Bamon Leikai. The arrested cadres were identified as Huidrom Palinba Singh alias Nanao (19), Pebam Roshan Singh (18), Nameirakpam Jitson Meitei (19) and Maimom Lemba Meitei (28).

Earlier, on June 17, security forces arrested KCP (PWG) cadre Hemam Laingam Meitei alias Ngamba (33) from Moirang Khoiru Mayai Leirak in Bishnupur district.

In another operation conducted on June 16, an active cadre of RPF/PLA, identified as Arambam Sanayaima Meitei alias Ali (48), was apprehended from Kangla Sangomshang Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district.

Officials said the operations form part of the ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order across Manipur.-----------
