Lucknow, 18 June (HS): Under the leadership of Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant
decision to further strengthen the teacher education and training system. The
Basic Education Department has made permanent 3,346 temporary positions in the
state's 70 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), operated
under the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Lucknow,
Uttar Pradesh. A government order has been issued in this regard by Partha
Sarathi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education Department.
State Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent
Charge) Sandeep Singh said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath, the government is giving top priority to teacher education. The
decision to make 3,346 DIET posts permanent is historic. This will provide
service security and boost the morale of teachers and employees who have been
working on temporary basis for years.
He said that the District Institutes of Education and
Training are the backbone of teacher training. Making the posts permanent will
ensure the permanent availability of human resources in the institutions, bring
continuity to training programs, and accelerate the goal of preparing quality
teachers in accordance with the National Education Policy-2020. The government
is committed to ensuring trained and dedicated teachers in every school in the
state, so that children can receive quality education.
Permanent positions: The permanent positions include 70
principals, 70 vice principals, 70 statisticians, 70 work experience teachers,
420 senior lecturers, 1,190 lecturers, 70 technical assistants, 70 office
superintendents, 70 librarians, 70 accountants, 70 stenographers, 630 clerks,
126 laboratory assistants, and 350 Class IV employees. Granting permanent
status to these positions will provide long-term stability to the
administrative and educational systems at DIET institutions.
The government order states that these posts were created in
various phases and their duration was extended from time to time by the
government. Posts were previously approved for 18 districts in the first phase,
16 districts in the second phase, 22 districts in the third phase, and 14
districts in the fourth phase. Now, the government has granted permanent
approval to these posts in all 70 DIETs, ending the temporary arrangement that
had been in place for years.
The District Institutes of Education and Training are
important units in the state for teacher training, educational research,
curriculum development, innovation, and ensuring quality education in primary
and upper primary schools. Making these positions permanent will ensure the
availability of human resources in these institutions and provide long-term
strength to the state's school education system.
The government order also clarifies that the process of
stabilizing the posts has been carried out in accordance with the government's
financial and administrative regulations, and the concerned officials have been
instructed to ensure necessary compliance. This government decision is being
considered an important step towards strengthening the teacher education
system, increasing the efficiency of DIET institutions, and realizing the goal of
quality education in the state.
According to the government order, approval has been granted
to convert these posts into permanent positions, effective August 2, 2016.
