Nagpur, 18 June (HS): Polling for the 11 out of 17 seats to the Legislative Council from Local Authorities’ constituencies began smoothly on Thursday. Six of the 17 seats have been elected unopposed and have gone in favour of BJP-led Mahayuti. By-election is being held in Nagpur constituency following election of Chandrashekhar Bawankule to the Legislative Assembly.

Those elected unopposed are Arun Lakhani, BJI from Wardha-Garchiroli-Chandrapur constituency, Vikam Kakde, NCP from

Pune; Ravindra Fatak, Shiv Sena from Thane; Aniket Tatkare, NCP from Raigad-Ratnagairi-Sindhudurg ; Dushyant Chatyurvedi, Shiv Sena from Yavatmal and PrajaktTanpure, BJP from Ahilyanagar constituency.

The counting of votes will be held on June 22. On the same day the monsoon session of the state legislature will begin.

Polling is being held in Solapur, Jalgaon, Sangli-Satara, Nanded, Nagpur (By-Poll), Bhandara-Gondia,Nashik,Amravati, Dharashiv-Latur-Beed, Parbhani-Hingoli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna constituencies.
