Guwahati, 07 May (HS): The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is going to convene an important review meeting of its district units on May 9 to assess the party’s performance in the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections, in which the Congress-led opposition alliance suffered a major setback.
APCC General Secretary (Organisation) Ramen Baruah issued a circular directing party leaders concerned to remain present in Guwahati for the meeting. According to the circular, all APCC office-bearers, District Congress Committee presidents, working presidents and senior vice-presidents have been asked to attend the review session.
The meeting will focus on analysing the results of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and conducting a detailed assessment of the party’s organisational and electoral performance.
In the 126-member Assembly, the Congress-led opposition alliance managed to secure only 21 seats, including 19 won by Congress and two by Raijor Dal, while the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a sweeping victory with 102 seats.
Meanwhile, Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday held a virtual interaction with Congress candidates to gather feedback and discuss the election outcome.-----------
