
New Delhi, 06 May (H.S.): Vietnam President To Lam, arriving in New Delhi on Tuesday evening for his first state visit to India, received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi accorded him the formal reception. Bilateral talks between President Lam and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled at Hyderabad House in Delhi.
After the ceremony, President To Lam paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. Prime Minister Modi subsequently met President To Lam at Hyderabad House.
Prime Minister Modi will hold comprehensive discussions with President Lam on various facets of bilateral relations, alongside regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Vietnam President To Lam reached New Delhi on Tuesday evening for his maiden state visit to India. India and Vietnam are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership this year.
The President's visit to India began from Bodh Gaya in Bihar, where he offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple.
At Prime Minister Modi's invitation, To Lam—General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam—will undertake a state visit to India from May 5 to 7. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation of Vietnamese government ministers and senior officials.
President Lam will also visit Mumbai during his trip to India.
