Guwahati, 04 May (HS): Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Monday expressed gratitude to voters in Assam and West Bengal, describing the party’s performance in the ongoing vote counting as a “historic mandate” while asserting that the outcome reflects strong public confidence in the BJP leadership.
Addressing reporters in Guwahati, Saikia said the early trends indicate people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He thanked voters of both states for their support, stating that the mandate reinforces faith in the party’s governance and leadership.
Highlighting the broader political picture, Saikia noted that the BJP-led NDA continues to hold a commanding lead in Assam, putting it on course for a third consecutive term in power. At the same time, the party has registered significant gains in West Bengal as counting progresses.
Reacting to the trends, Saikia emphasized that the renewed mandate brings greater responsibility for the party. He said the BJP government would intensify its focus on development and good governance over the next five years, ensuring that public expectations are met.
Crediting the leadership of Modi and Sarma for the party’s strong performance, Saikia said Assam has witnessed notable progress under their tenure. He added that the Prime Minister’s approach towards Assam has been distinctive, which has contributed to the state’s growth and the BJP’s continued electoral success.
Reiterating the party’s commitment, Saikia assured that efforts would be made to deliver efficient governance and strengthen public welfare initiatives across the state in the coming years.
