04 May (HS): Monday was a tragic day for road accidents in Uttar Pradesh. In
the past 24 hours, 18 people have died and 27 have been injured in accidents
across various districts of the state. Eight people died in an accident in
Ambedkar Nagar, while in Jalaun, six members of a family travelling in a car
returning from Ayodhya lost their lives. Additionally, one person each died in
accidents in Rae Bareli, Bulandshahr, Basti, and Fatehpur districts. Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the loss of life in
these accidents. He also directed officials to provide the best possible
treatment to the injured.
On
Monday morning, a speeding Tavera car rammed into a truck from behind near 84
Gumbad in Kalpi Kotwali area on Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway-27 in Jalaun
district. Six members of the same family died in the accident, while four
others were seriously injured. All of them were returning after visiting
Ayodhya. The deceased include Shashikant Tiwari, Krishnakant Nayak, Deepak
Tiwari, Harimohan Tiwari, Bhushan Tiwari and Anshul Tiwari, residents of
Mahroni in Lalitpur. Four others are injured. In the preliminary investigation,
the driver's sleepiness appears to be the cause of the accident. The police are
conducting a detailed investigation into the matter. The truck has been taken
into custody.
Similarly,
eight people, including two brothers, died in a road accident late Sunday night
in the Jalalpur police station area of Ambedkar Nagar district. Police have
identified all the deceased. The deceased include Kaifi (32), a resident of
Lorpur Tajan/Saidapur in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttam Kumar (24), a resident of Semra
Katka, Aditya Kumar (25), his brother Divyanshu (22), a resident of Jainapur,
Lalchand (24), a resident of Patti Muithan, Raju Gupta (32), Sahil (28), and
Indresh (30), residents of Sikandarpur Sammanpur.
A
speeding loader truck hit a tractor on the Ganga Expressway, which passes
through the Salon police station area in Raebareli district, late Sunday night.
The tractor driver died in the accident, while five people in both vehicles
were injured. Police identified the deceased as Manoj Pal (35), a resident of
Inder Ka Purwa Majra Mirzapur Aihari in Unchahar. Prakash Narayan Mishra,
Shivkumar Pal, and Ankesh Kumar Raidas, who were on the tractor, and Narmjeet
and Shatru, residents of Patiala, Punjab, who were in the pickup, were
seriously injured.
Similarly,
on Monday, near Vishunpurwa Chowki in Rudhauli police station area of Basti
district, a speeding dumper collided with three tempos moving on the road. In
the accident, Omprakash, a tempo rider, died, while 15 passengers were injured.
Three of them were referred to Lucknow as their condition was serious. The
crowd caught the dumper driver, beat him up and handed him over to the police.
Apart from this, two bikes collided with each other on Dampur Road in Khakhreru
police station area of Fatehpur late on Sunday night. Bike rider Bablu died
in the accident. Meanwhile, Raju, Monu, Gudiya are injured, who were sent to
the hospital.
A
road accident occurred late Sunday night near the village of Kariyawali on the
Pahasu-Shikarpur road in the Ahmedgarh police station area of Bulandshahr
district. Ahmedgarh police station in-charge Vishambhar Dayal said that
four-year-old Shantanu died in the accident, while his father, Bunty, was
seriously injured. Angry villagers blocked the Pahasu-Shikarpur road by placing
the body on the road. Police were able to clear the blockade only after
officials persuaded them.
