
NEW DELHI, May 31 (HS): Seven of India's ten most-valued companies witnessed a decline in their market capitalisation during the previous trading week due to fluctuations in the domestic equity market, while three companies registered gains. Collectively, the market valuation of seven of these top-ranked firms eroded by more than ₹1.54 lakh crore during trading from Monday to Friday.
Among the biggest losers was Reliance Industries, India's most valuable company by market capitalisation, followed by HDFC Bank. On the other hand, among the three companies that recorded gains, Larsen & Toubro emerged as the biggest gainer, followed by State Bank of India.
Following the week's trading activity, the combined market capitalisation of Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance and ICICI Bank declined by ₹1,54,475.01 crore. In contrast, the market capitalisation of Larsen & Toubro, State Bank of India and Life Insurance Corporation of India increased by ₹40,402.42 crore.
During the four trading sessions between Monday and Friday, the market capitalisation of Reliance Industries declined by ₹46,078.30 crore to ₹17,87,039.40 crore. Similarly, HDFC Bank's valuation fell by ₹33,333.06 crore to ₹11,46,641.84 crore.
Bharti Airtel's market capitalisation declined by ₹25,408.96 crore to ₹11,14,886.53 crore, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) lost ₹22,920.58 crore, taking its valuation down to ₹8,15,480.75 crore. Hindustan Unilever's market capitalisation slipped by ₹13,169.46 crore to ₹5,04,210.54 crore. Bajaj Finance shed ₹7,253.24 crore, reducing its valuation to ₹5,63,262.33 crore, while ICICI Bank's market capitalisation declined by ₹6,311.41 crore to ₹9,00,589.91 crore.
Conversely, Larsen & Toubro added ₹20,608.43 crore to its market value, taking it to ₹5,60,836.64 crore. State Bank of India gained ₹13,753.62 crore, pushing its market capitalisation to ₹8,89,831.54 crore. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) also recorded an increase of ₹6,040.37 crore, lifting its valuation to ₹5,20,484.06 crore.
In terms of overall market capitalisation rankings, Reliance Industries retained its position as India's most valuable company with a market capitalisation of ₹17,87,039.40 crore. It was followed by HDFC Bank (₹11,46,641.84 crore), Bharti Airtel (₹11,14,886.53 crore), ICICI Bank (₹9,00,589.91 crore), State Bank of India (₹8,89,831.54 crore), Tata Consultancy Services (₹8,15,480.75 crore), Bajaj Finance (₹5,63,262.33 crore), Larsen & Toubro (₹5,60,836.64 crore), Life Insurance Corporation of India (₹5,20,484.06 crore), and Hindustan Unilever (₹5,04,210.54 crore), which occupied the second through tenth positions, respectively, among the country's most valuable listed companies.
