
Guwahati, 30 May (HS): Lok Bhavan Assam celebrated Goa Statehood Day at its premises as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative and the Government of India’s nationwide observance of Statehood Days of different States and Union Territories, Assam Lok Bhawan informed officially on Saturday.
The event showcased Goa’s rich cultural heritage, historical significance, vibrant traditions and its contribution to the country’s unity and development. The programme aimed to promote greater awareness and appreciation of the diverse cultural identities that form the foundation of India’s social fabric.
Addressing the gathering, Joint Secretary of Lok Bhavan, Arindam Barua, emphasized the role of such celebrations in strengthening national integration and fostering closer ties among people from different parts of the country. He also highlighted the historical and cultural connections that bind India’s diverse regions together.
Father Josly Fernandes of St. Xavier’s School, Pamohi, delivered a presentation on Goa’s history, culture and tourism potential. He spoke about the State’s unique identity, scenic landscapes and its popularity as one of India’s leading tourist destinations.
As part of the programme, a documentary on Goa’s heritage, architecture, art, festivals and natural beauty was screened, providing attendees with an engaging insight into the State’s vibrant culture and way of life.----------
