Lakhimpur (Assam), 30 May (HS): An outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported in Assam’s Dhakuakhana area, triggering concern among local pig farmers after the death of several pigs over the past few days.

According to local sources, multiple pigs have killed due to the suspected viral infection in different parts of the region. The situation has created panic among pig rearers, who fear further spread of the disease.

A major impact has been reported at the farm of a youth identified as Niruj Tao, where pigs have been dying one after another in recent days. The sudden deaths have caused severe financial losses to the farm owner.

Pig farmers in the area have claimed that they are facing losses worth several lakhs of rupees due to the outbreak. They have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate preventive and control measures to contain the spread of the disease and provide necessary support to the affected farmers.-----------
