New Delhi, May 28 (H.S.): Amid the prevailing heatwave conditions in North India, the weather is set to change once again. According to the India Meteorological Department, the impact of an active western disturbance will begin to be felt from today onward. As a result, thunderstorm activity, lightning, and rainfall are likely to increase across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and the hill states.

The India Meteorological Department stated that several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds. Meanwhile, weather conditions are expected to change in the plains, particularly in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, and western Uttar Pradesh, after evening hours. Dust storms and rain have been forecast at several places.

Due to the intense heat prevailing over the past several days, temperatures in many parts of North India had risen to between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius. However, following the expected change in weather conditions, temperatures may decline by 3 to 6 degrees Celsius, bringing relief from the scorching heat.

The India Meteorological Department has advised people to stay away from open spaces, trees, and electric poles during adverse weather conditions. Farmers and travellers have also been urged to keep a close watch on weather updates.
