New Delhi, May 25 (H.S.): The Supreme Court of India on Monday declined to grant an urgent hearing on a petition filed against the recently controversial “Cockroach Janata Party.”

When the matter was mentioned before a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant seeking expedited hearing, the court observed that it did not appear to be a serious or urgent issue warranting immediate consideration at this stage.

The petition has been filed by advocate Raja Chaudhary, seeking action against the so-called “Cockroach Janata Party.” It argues that legal action should be taken against the activities of this self-proclaimed political organisation.

The plea states that such entities and symbolic campaigns misuse judicial expressions for digital mobilisation purposes. It also seeks an independent investigation into allegations involving fake lawyers and claims that individuals with forged degrees are actively practising in the legal profession.

The petition further demands a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), alleging that individuals involved with fake legal credentials should be thoroughly investigated.
