
Imphal, 02 May (HS): Security forces along with Manipur Police have busted two separate drug trafficking attempts in Senapati and Imphal East districts, seizing over 700 grams of suspected heroin and arresting two persons in coordinated anti-narcotics operations, Manipur police informed on Saturday.
Acting on specific inputs, a joint team conducted an operation on May 1 in the Kabinam area under Maram Police Station in Senapati district, where Manglenthang Tuboi (25), a resident of Saikul Bazar, was apprehended. Authorities recovered 551 grams of suspected heroin from his possession. A four-wheeler and a mobile phone were also seized as part of the operation.
In a separate operation, Manipur Police arrested Md. Anish Khan (28) from Sajiwa Jail Road at Khabeisoi under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. During the search, three soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 154 grams were recovered.
Further investigation led police to carry out a follow-up search on May 1 at a residence in Nongmeibung Nambam Chuthek belonging to Thounaojam Dilip Kumar. During the search, eight additional soap cases filled with suspected heroin powder were seized.
Police said investigation is ongoing to trace the wider network involved in the trafficking of narcotics.-----------
