15 May (HS): On Friday, hours after petrol and diesel prices were raised,

Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's

appeal to save fuel. He said that cycle

SP's official election symbol was the sole alternative, implying that his party

alone could provide a route to progress.

Akhilesh posted a graphic of himself

riding a bicycle on X, with the remark in Hindi, If one has to move

forward, then a bicycle is the only option. His remark came after the

Centre increased fuel and petrol prices by Rs 3. The increase came after Modi

urged people to conserve fuel in the face of oil supply interruptions caused by

the West Asia issue.
