Hyderabad, 10 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first operational PM MITRA Park in Warangal, Telangana, on Sunday, marking a landmark step in the country’s textile modernisation drive. The park, developed at a cost of ₹1,695.54 crore, is designed as a world‑class integrated textile hub and will serve as a key vehicle to realise the Centre’s “5F Vision” — from Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said the Warangal PM MITRA Park reflects India’s renewed commitment to strengthening its historic textile heritage. He added that the park will give a fresh impetus to the Textile Revolution, with units established here also eligible for benefits under the Centre’s Production‑Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This, he said, will generate new employment opportunities, especially for women and youth, across the textile value chain.
As per the Ministry of Textiles, the park is located close to the Nagpur–Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (National Highway‑163G) and NH‑163, providing excellent rail, road and port connectivity for efficient logistics and export‑oriented operations. The project has been designed with environment‑friendliness at its core, incorporating Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology and a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) to ensure minimal environmental impact.
The 1,327‑acre park features a 10‑megawatt solar power plant, hostels for industrial workers, and a common boiler system for processing units, reflecting its focus on modern infrastructure and sustainability. Authorities estimate that the park will attract over ₹6,000 crore in private investment, creating a major manufacturing cluster in the region.
It is worth noting that the Central Government approved PM MITRA Park sites across seven states — Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh — in March 2023. The Telangana government’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park has been included in the scheme under the “brownfield” category, further bolstering the state’s industrial ecosystem.
Officials describe this initiative as a decisive step towards positioning Telangana’s local textile ecosystem on the global stage and transforming India into a global manufacturing hub for textiles.
