Chennai,01 May (H.S.): Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay will undertake a key spiritual tour on Saturday, visiting two major religious centres in Tamil Nadu as political activity intensifies ahead of the Assembly election results.
Party sources said Vijay’s itinerary includes a visit to the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Velankanni, followed by a stop at the Nagore Andavar Dargah, where he is expected to offer prayers seeking peace and prosperity for the state.
The visit is being seen as part of a carefully planned outreach effort by the TVK leadership to engage with people across religious communities in the crucial days leading up to the counting of votes.
Velankanni, one of the country’s prominent Christian pilgrimage centres, and Nagore Dargah, a revered Islamic shrine, hold significance for devotees across faiths. Party functionaries said the visits reflect Vijay’s outreach to diverse communities in the run-up to counting day.
The TVK president is expected to travel by road and spend time at both shrines, with arrangements being made by local party units to facilitate his visit and ensure crowd management.
These visits come close on the heels of Vijay’s recent darshan at Tiruchendur and Shirdi, which drew widespread attention and were viewed as part of his continued spiritual engagements.
With exit polls indicating a strong performance for TVK, Vijay is expected to return to Panaiyur after the visits and review preparations with senior leaders, a party insider added.
