Lucknow, 01 May
(HS): The Yogi government has taken a major and decisive step in the field of
education, implementing the School Chalo Abhiyan in mission mode.
The government's clear goal is to ensure that no child between the ages of 6
and 14 is deprived of education; they are enrolled in school and continue to
receive education. In this regard, a special campaign will be launched across
the state from May 1, 2026, under which children living in labor colonies,
brick kilns, and slums will be identified and enrolled in schools. This
campaign will specifically focus on connecting out-of-school and dropout
children to the mainstream. Disabled children will be identified and enrolled
with the help of special educators, while dropout girls will be given priority
admission to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
Regarding this campaign, the state's Minister of
State for Basic Education (Independent Charge), Sandeep Singh, said that the
Yogi government's goal is not only enrollment, but also to connect every child
with quality education. By making the 'School Chalo Abhiyan' a mass movement,
we will ensure that no child in the state is deprived of education. Bringing
back dropouts, educating girls, and increasing the transition rate are among
our top priorities. He said that the government's intention is to make the
education system completely inclusive, where children from every section of
society have equal opportunities. For this purpose, this special campaign is
being launched, in which the participation of the administration, teachers,
parents, and all sections of society is being ensured.
Additional Chief Secretary for Basic and Secondary
Education, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, has issued instructions to all Divisional
Commissioners and District Magistrates of the state to ensure the enrollment of
every child. In the first phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan (April
1 to 15), the process of enrolling children who have completed three years of
age in Anganwadis/Bal Vatikas, enrolling children aged 6 years in Class 1, and
identifying dropouts between the ages of 7 and 14 has already begun. Now, in
the second phase, this process will be further accelerated and direct access
will be established to the remaining children. Instructions have also been
given to ensure 100% transition from Classes 5 to 6, 8 to 9, and 10 to 11, to
prevent interruptions in education. Special emphasis has also been placed on
ensuring 100% admission of children selected through lottery in private schools
under the RTE. Officials have been instructed to ensure that no eligible child
is denied admission.
At the same time,
extensive work is being carried out under 'Operation Kayakalp' and 'Project
Alankar' to strengthen the infrastructure of schools. In previous years,
schools have been saturated based on 19 parameters. Now, through a special
campaign, instructions have been given to identify the remaining infrastructure
deficiencies and fill them through CSR and other resources. Additionally, all
schools have been asked to onboard the 'Vidyanjali Portal', submit a gap
analysis, and ensure expansion of facilities with the help of voluntary
organizations/volunteers.
