
Bhubaneswar, 09 April (H.S.): In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer (Dam Safety), Odisha, Bhubaneswar, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. He is slated to be produced before the Court of the Special Judge Vigilance later in the day.
According to official sources, the arrest followed extensive searches at multiple premises linked to the accused. During the raids, Vigilance officials allegedly uncovered assets that were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The seized assets reportedly include a palatial multi-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, a farmhouse with a double-storeyed structure spread over approximately 4,000 square feet on land measuring around 1.71 acres, and eight plots at different locations. Additionally, deposits exceeding ₹1.81 crore, cash amounting to ₹6.23 lakh, around 350 grams of gold, and two four-wheelers were also detected.
Officials stated that Mohanty failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the acquisition of these assets. Based on the findings, a case has been registered at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station (No. 15/2026) under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
