Chandigarh, 07 April (H.S.): Haryana Police’s innovative ‘Abhedya’ app is rapidly gaining public trust across the state. As of April 6, 2026, a total of 230 users have downloaded the app, reflecting growing acceptance of this digital initiative aimed at enhancing citizen security. The app has emerged as a powerful tool to prevent threatening calls originating from international numbers. It instantly blocks and deletes suspicious calls, messages, photos, videos, and voice notes before they reach users, forcing criminals to rely on local numbers, which makes it easier for authorities to trace and apprehend them. This has not only accelerated the identification and arrest of offenders but also strengthened citizens’ sense of safety.

Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said that the app’s success has set a national benchmark, with several other states now looking to adopt similar systems. He emphasized that the use of international numbers in extortion cases has significantly declined, enhancing public security. The app also blocks fraudulent calls using gang names, effectively curbing cyber threats and extortion attempts.

The app has shown remarkable impact in districts like Jind and Kaithal, where 26 and 22 people respectively have downloaded it. Users reported a noticeable reduction in fear from threatening WhatsApp calls and messages, allowing them to feel safer and more confident.

Jhajjar and Panipat have also shown growing adoption, with 19 and 14 downloads respectively. Residents mentioned that their focus on work and business has improved as the fear of intimidation has decreased. In Bhiwani, nine users reported a significant decline in threatening international calls, bringing peace of mind to residents like Diler from Kharak Kalan and Virender from Loharu.

In Hansi and Rohtak, users confirmed relief from international threat calls, with 5 and 7 downloads respectively. Beyond blocking calls, the app has raised awareness about cyber safety among citizens. Additional Director General of Police Sibash Kabiraj explained that ‘Abhedya’ is a mobile-based citizen security system that identifies unknown international and virtual numbers, blocks suspicious calls, and removes harmful messages, videos, and images before delivery. It prevents threats, extortion, stalking, and cyber fraud, protecting citizens from digital harassment and fear.

The ‘Abhedya’ app is increasingly proving to be a critical innovation, making Haryana a safer state through modern technology while inspiring other regions to adopt similar citizen-focused security solutions.
