Kolkata, 03 April (H.S.):
The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of backing individuals involved in alleged violence against judicial officers in Malda.
In a post on social media platform X, the BJP claimed that one Moffakerul Islam, described as being close to TMC leaders, was arrested for allegedly leading a mob against judicial officers engaged in SIR duties.
According to the party, the incident took place when judicial officials were on duty and were confronted by a violent crowd.
The BJP further alleged that such individuals have been allowed to carry out violent protests and activities under the patronage of the TMC for over a decade.
In its post, the party also claimed that people of West Bengal are seeking change, citing slogans such as “Banchte Chai, BJP Chai.”
The BJP said it had shared photographs as evidence, in which the accused is purportedly seen with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other leaders.
There was no immediate response from the Trinamool Congress on the allegations.
