
Chirang, 18 April (HS): Fifteen persons have been arrested in connection with the violent incident on Friday at the Runikhata Forest Division office along the Bhutan border in Assam’s Chirang district, officials said on Saturday.
The arrests were made following an investigation into the unrest that broke out at the forest office, prompting security intervention in the area. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify others involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary is set to visit the site to assess the situation firsthand. He stated today that a detailed report on the incident has been sought and directed officials to submit it by Monday.
The administration has stepped up monitoring in the region to ensure law and order, while further action is expected based on the findings of the report.-----------
