Nagaon (Assam), 17 April (HS): A devastating fire broke out at a bitumen factory in the Puronigudam area of Nagaon district, triggering panic in the vicinity and causing extensive property damage.

According to reports on Friday, the incident occurred at a factory located in Kashari village under Puronigudam last night. The fire rapidly spread across the premises, fueled by highly flammable materials stored inside the facility. Thick plumes of smoke were seen billowing into the sky as locals alerted authorities.

Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and launched efforts to bring the blaze under control. After hours of operation, the fire was eventually contained, though not before causing significant losses.

Preliminary estimates suggest that property worth several lakhs of rupees was gutted in the incident. However, no casualties have been reported so far. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is currently underway.-----------
