New Delhi, 15 April (H.S.):
Vice‑President C. P. Radhakrishnan has said on Wednesday that artificial intelligence (AI) is not merely a technological revolution but a “human revolution,” which must be adopted responsibly, with accountability and foresight, to strengthen good governance and build an inclusive society.
The Vice‑President was addressing the 72nd Foundation Day function of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) as the chief guest.

Paying tribute to the country’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, he said that his life was a symbol of simplicity, integrity, and the values of public service.
He stated that true governance is not a medium of power, but a medium of service.
The Vice‑President remarked that the world has now entered the age of AI, where machines are learning and systems are beginning to think.
AI is giving governments the ability to understand citizens’ needs better and to deliver services in a more effective manner.
He said that AI will play a crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
Governance is becoming faster, more transparent, and more accountable through AI, and its use is helping ensure that the benefits of schemes reach the last person in the chain.
Referring to the nation’s progress, he stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is making effective use of AI for inclusive governance.
Mentioning AI‑based language platforms such as “Bhashini,” he said that language barriers are being overcome and citizens can access services in their own languages.
Shedding light on AI’s role in the health sector, he explained that through TB screening, portable X‑rays, and the telemedicine platform “e‑Sanjeevani,” healthcare services are reaching remote and far‑flung areas.
He urged the youth to adopt AI and new technologies, saying that this will open new opportunities and avenues for
innovation.
He also warned that the ethical use of AI must be ensured, with transparency, accountability, and moral responsibility at the core of its deployment.
The Vice‑President said that AI should be used to make society more just, inclusive, and sensitive, and not to deepen inequalities or deepen surveillance without safeguards.
On this occasion, Union Minister and Chairman of the IIPA Executive Council Dr. Jitendra Singh, Director General of IIPA Dr. Surendra Kumar Bagde, distinguished guests, faculty members, and participants were present.
