Shahjahanpur,
April 15 (HS): Following a property dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur
district, a 25-year-old man was shot dead and his brother critically injured,
police said Wednesday. According to Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit, the
event occurred late on Tuesday night in Bari Khas village. Shyam Sundar was
shot dead outside his home, while his brother Brijmohan was severely injured
after being struck with a heavy item.
According
to police, the youths were living at their maternal grandfather's residence,
who had no sons and left his possessions to Sundar. This had resulted in
animosity between the grandpa and his nephew, authorities added. According to
Dixit, the victim went to his farm to cut fodder earlier on Tuesday and got
into a fight with the accused, Dhanveer Singh, who is connected to the family.
Later
that night, the accused reportedly went to the victim's residence and opened
fire as Sundar walked outside, killing him instantly, according to the police. The
dead was transported for autopsy, while the injured were admitted to a
government medical institution. Police
have detained the accused and are questioning him, Dixit said.
