
Pune, 15 Apr (HS): Five persons were arrested for
abducting a civil contractor engaged in Metro Rail Work in Pune. The main
accused runs a stone crushing unit and abducted the contractor for a ransom of
Rs 50 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Sagar Dattatray
Zurunge (39), Vijay Suresh Walunj (38), Raju Vijaykumar Sahane (32), Rupesh
Shivaji Gawde (38), all residents of Lonikand on Pune-Ahilyanagar road, and Prakash
Balasaheb Raut (34) of Tulapur in Haveli Tehsil.
The contractor, a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh
was living in Gahunje area of Pune. He had purchases gravel from Zurunge. In
the name of showing the stone crushing unit Zurunge took the contractor in a
car and demanded ransom of Rs 50 lakh and threatened him of life if the money
is not paid.
The Metro contractor lodged a complaint with Kharadi
Police station. Police arrested the five accused and are investigating further.
