(HS): Cocaine worth Rs 4.26 crore being smuggled through shampoo bottles were seized
by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Nagpur unit of Mumbai Zone. The narcotic
drug was being smuggled by a woman traveller via Hazrat Nizamuddin – Bengaluru Rajdhani
Express.
On suspicion the
passenger was requested to de-board for detailed examination at Ajni station in
Nagpur. Among her clothing and personal belongings, two shampoo bottles
appeared unusually heavy. Upon draining the liquid 50 yellow coloured capsules
containing white powder were fund. Upon test the substance was found to be
cocaine. The capsules containing 853 grams of cocaine worth about Rs 4.26 crore
was seized. The passenger was arrested and an offence under the Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substance Act was registered. She was immediately produced in
the court which remanded her to the magisterial custody.
Further investigation
into the inter-state drugs trafficking has been initiated.
