Guwahati, 06 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday claimed that the “alliance drama” surrounding Akhil Gogoi would continue until the final day of nomination withdrawal. He also advised political parties not to place their trust in Gogoi regarding the issue of electoral alliances.

Speaking to reporters, Sarma alleged that Gogoi has been repeatedly changing his stance on alliance discussions and suggested that the developments were part of a political strategy aimed at keeping the situation uncertain till the last moment. The Chief Minister was talking to media persons before participating in a program in Naharkatia on Friday.

The Chief Minister further stated that the ruling alliance has not yet taken a final decision regarding the candidate for the Sivasagar constituency. According to him, discussions are still underway on whether the seat will be contested by the Bharatiya Janata Party or its ally Asom Gana Parishad.

Sarma added that a decision on the matter would be announced after internal consultations within the alliance. The Sivasagar seat is considered politically significant, particularly due to the presence of Akhil Gogoi, who represents the constituency in the state assembly.-----------
