
Guwahati, 26 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday paid heartfelt tributes to eminent litterateur Mitradev Mahanta on his death anniversary, recalling his immense contribution to the Assamese language and literature.
In a message, the Chief Minister stated that Mahanta had dedicated his entire life to the cause of Assamese language and literary enrichment. He emphasized that the late writer taught society that language is not merely a collection of words, but the very soul of a community.
Sarma further noted that through his iconic creation “Chir Chenehi Mor Bhasha Janani,” Mahanta ignited an everlasting spirit of love and devotion for the mother tongue, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.-----------
