Guwahati, 26 March (HS): In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming elections, Achyut Saikia, the organisational secretary of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday night.

Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia and union Minister of state for external affairs Pavitra Margherita and other BJP leaders were present at the joining ceremony. Along with Saikia, several office bearers of the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad also formally joined the BJP, strengthening the party’s base among regional and community-based organisations.

The joining ceremony was held in the presence of senior BJP leaders, who welcomed the new entrants and expressed confidence that their inclusion would further boost the party’s prospects in the state.----------
