
New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.):
Domestic stock markets showed strong gains on Wednesday buoyed by hopes of peace in West Asia. Trading kicked off on a positive note with buyers dominating to push both Sensex and Nifty higher. By 10 am Sensex was up 1.56 percent while Nifty climbed 1.70 percent.
Among heavyweight stocks Shriram Finance Trent Ltd Adani Ports Grasim Industries and Adani Enterprises traded between 3.12 percent and 4.31 percent higher by 10 am on Wednesday. On the flip side Tech Mahindra Infosys Coal India and HCL Technologies saw declines ranging from 0.19 percent to 2.21 percent.
So far 2786 stocks saw active trading with 2565 in the green posting gains and just 221 in the red. Of the 30 Sensex components 28 stayed positive backed by buying while two faced selling pressure. In the Nifty 50 46 stocks traded green with four in red.
BSEs Sensex opened 583.56 points higher at 74652.01 on Wednesday. Buyers piled in right from the start sparking a rally though minor profit-taking caused brief dips. Still buying momentum held firm and by 10 am Sensex was up 1157.97 points at 75226.42.
NSEs Nifty mirrored the surge opening 152 points up at 23064.40. Bulls took control early unleashing broad-based buying that kept accelerating. Amid ongoing trades by 10 am Nifty gained 388.80 points to trade at 23301.20.
On Tuesday the prior session Sensex had closed up 1372.06 points or 1.89 percent at 74068.45. Nifty ended 399.75 points or 1.78 percent higher at 22912.40.
