
New Delhi, 16 March (H.S.): Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan expressed profound sorrow over a devastating bus accident in Nepal that claimed the lives of seven Indian pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, with several others injured.
In a Monday post on social media, Radhakrishnan conveyed deep anguish upon learning of the crash, which killed the pilgrims and wounded others returning from the renowned Manakamana Temple.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, praying for the swift recovery of the injured, stating, My deepest sympathies are with those families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident.
Radhakrishnan urged authorities and the Indian Embassy in Nepal to provide every possible assistance to the injured and expedite arrangements to bring the deceased's remains back to India.
The mishap occurred late Saturday in Gorkha district when an electric microbus plunged approximately 150 meters into a gorge at a treacherous bend; all passengers had just visited the Manakamana Temple.
Seven Tamil Nadu pilgrims perished on the spot, while nine others sustained serious injuries.
