
New Delhi, 05 February (H.S.): Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan expressed profound grief in the House on Thursday over the passing of former Rajya Sabha member from Kerala, Thomas Kuthiravattom.
In his condolence message, the Chairman revealed that Thomas Kuthiravattom breathed his last on January 12 at the age of 80. He had served as a Rajya Sabha member representing the state of Kerala from April 1985 to April 1991.
Born on June 1, 1945, in Kallisseri, Chengannur, Kerala, Kuthiravattom began his public life through student and youth movements, progressively assuming significant responsibilities in Kerala's political landscape.
The Chairman noted that Kuthiravattom was renowned for his simplicity, unwavering commitment to public service, and deep sensitivity toward the poor and marginalized communities; he commanded widespread respect in Kerala's political and social spheres.
With his demise, the nation has lost a dedicated social servant, he added. At the Chairman's behest, members of the House stood in solemn silence at their places to honor the departed soul's memory.
