New Delhi, 04 February (H.S.): India formally acceded to the BRICS Industrial Efficiency Centre (BCIC) on Wednesday, to fortify manufacturing and MSMEs, as announced by the Commerce and Industry Ministry during a Udyog Bhawan ceremony.

DPIIT Economic Adviser Agrim Kaushal and UNIDO Director Dr. Cristiano Pasini inked a Trust Fund agreement formalizing India's BCIC participation, designating the National Productivity Council (NPC) as nodal agency under DPIIT policy oversight and UNIDO technical aid to spearhead capacity building, productivity enhancement, and Industry 4.0 adoption.

Chaired by DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia, the event convened NPC DG Neerja Shekhar alongside DPIIT, MSME Ministry, MEA seniors, UNIDO delegates, and FICCI representatives; BCIC—UNIDO's collaborative hub—delivers integrated support to BRICS manufacturing firms and MSMEs, prioritizing cutting-edge competencies.
