
Imphal, 12 February (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of coordinated operations across different districts of the state in last 24 hours in Manipur, resulting in the arrest of several active cadres linked to proscribed militant outfits, including KCP and KYKL.
In Imphal West district, two active cadres of KCP (MFL) involved in extortion activities were apprehended from their respective residences at Khabi Mamang Leikai. The arrested individuals have been identified as Thangjam Goutam Singh (19) and Diamond Chingshubam (24). During the operation, security personnel seized a Royal Enfield Meteor motorcycle bearing registration number MN04G-2108, two mobile phones, and an Aadhaar card from their possession.
In a separate action the same day, Manipur Police arrested Khulem Kulajit Singh (20), an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), from his residence at Khurai Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. One mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.
Continuing the crackdown, police also detained another KCP (Apunba) member, Chabungbam Taisan Meitei (21), from Khurai Laishram Leikai near Chairenthong under Porompat Police Station. A resident of Ekou, Sadu Koireng in Imphal East district and currently staying at Sajiwa Relief Camp, he was found in possession of an M20 pistol along with a magazine and a mobile handset.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal district, security forces arrested three active cadres of KYKL from the general area of Moirangthel village near Border Pillar 88 under Tengnoupal Police Station. The arrested persons were identified as Abujam Naba Meeitei (49) of Wangoo Terakhong in Bishnupur district, Ningthoujam Kunjabihari Singh (30) of Moirang (Naryansinha), Bishnupur district, and Ningthoujam Manglem Singh (45) of Heirok Part-III in Thoubal district.
Further investigation into the cases is underway.----------
