
Dhaka, 12 February (H.S.): Multiple bomb explosions rocked several parts of Bangladesh on Thursday during voting for the 13th parliamentary elections and the historic national referendum on the July Charter, leaving several individuals injured.
In Munshiganj Sadar Upazila's Makati Gurucharan High School polling station, a crude bomb detonated around 10 a.m. amid a clash between supporters of two rival candidates, as confirmed by Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mominul Islam.
The altercation escalated into the blast, though specific injury details remain unconfirmed in initial reports.A similar incident unfolded at Gopalganj Sadar’s Reshma International School polling centre around 9:30 a.m., where assailants hurled a crude bomb from across a nearby canal, injuring three people including Ansar members Sukonta Majumdar and Jamal Hussain, as well as 14-year-old voter Amina Khanam, daughter of Arambagh resident resident.
The blast caused minor damage to the centre's main gate, yet voting proceeded under heightened security.In Dhaka's Mirpur-10 constituency, fierce clashes erupted between supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami, from where Jamaat chief Shafiqur Rahman is contesting. Police swiftly intervened to restore order amid the confrontations.
