New Delhi, 08 November (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended her heartfelt Diwali greetings to the people of the national capital, wishing them happiness, prosperity, well-being and a fulfilling life. She said that people are able to celebrate festivals peacefully and joyfully with their families because millions of soldiers remain deployed round the clock to safeguard the country's borders. Their dedication, vigilance and commitment ensure a secure environment in which citizens can celebrate festivals without fear. The Chief Minister urged people to light a diya in honour of soldiers and police personnel.

Gupta said that on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, people should also remember the brave soldiers and security personnel who continuously discharge their duties to protect the nation and society. She appealed to residents to light one additional diya in their homes in the name of the country's soldiers, security personnel and police officers while illuminating their houses for the festival.

She said that the diya would symbolise respect, gratitude and a sense of solidarity with all those who place their duty above everything else, even during festive occasions.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also specially acknowledged the contribution of Delhi's sanitation workers. She observed that while the entire city is immersed in festive celebrations during Diwali, sanitation workers continue to work with dedication to keep the national capital clean and beautiful.

She said that their hard work and commitment play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the city. Extending Diwali greetings to all sanitation workers, Gupta expressed her gratitude for their services and said that their contribution deserved recognition and appreciation.

The Chief Minister further noted that Diwali in Delhi holds a special significance because of the city's diversity and cultural unity. People from different states and cultural backgrounds come together in the national capital to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm and fervour.

She said that Delhi's cultural diversity and spirit of collective celebration further strengthen the significance of the auspicious festival of Diwali.
