Hailakandi (Assam), 2 November (HS): A 16-year-old girl killed after being run over by a train in Assam’s Hailakandi district. The deceased has been identified as Kaberi.

According to reports on Monday, the girl was walking along the railway tracks when the Sairang-Kolkata Express approached. Her dupatta reportedly got entangled with the moving train, pulling her underneath its wheels. She killed on the spot.

Following the incident, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi for a post-mortem examination.

Notably, the incident comes shortly after another railway-related tragedy in the district, in which a 19-year-old student killed while attempting to get off a train at Hailakandi railway station. The two incidents have raised concerns over railway safety in the area.-----------
