Guwahati, 09 October (HS): The Assam cabinet on Friday adopted 75 resolutions highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions to the state and the Northeast during his 25 years in public service, with particular emphasis on infrastructure development, improved connectivity, industrial expansion, healthcare, education and the restoration of peace and security.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a special 90-minute cabinet meeting dedicated exclusively to reviewing the changes witnessed by Assam since Modi began his public service journey as Gujarat chief minister and subsequently assumed office as the prime minister.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Sarma said improvements in security, connectivity and investment had collectively transformed Assam’s development prospects. He observed that sustained peace had provided the foundation for development, while better transport links had expanded opportunities and industrial investments had created fresh avenues for economic growth.
The chief minister also emphasised the role of healthcare and education in strengthening human capabilities and improving the quality of life.
According to Sarma, the cabinet resolutions formally acknowledged the wide-ranging transformation Assam had experienced during Modi’s years in public life, particularly since he became prime minister. He said the changes were not confined to economic growth but extended to social development, physical infrastructure, strategic importance and civilisational progress.
Sarma said Assam was gradually shedding its image as a distant frontier and emerging as a peaceful, well-connected and investment-ready state. He added that the state was strengthening its position as the gateway to the Northeast while contributing to the national objective of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.------------
