
Nagaon (Assam), 05 October (HS): The Nagaon and Morigaon district administrations are fully prepared for the October 6 bye-election to the No. 9 Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, with polling scheduled from 7 am to 5 pm.
A total of 19,02,009 voters, comprising 9,58,595 men, 9,43,364 women and 50 third-gender voters, will decide the fate of 15 candidates in the bypoll.
Polling will be conducted at 2,112 stations, including five auxiliary polling stations. Of these, five have been designated as model polling stations, while 335 will be managed by women. A total of 9,664 polling personnel have been deployed, and polling teams have already left for their assigned stations with election materials.
Under the supervision of Assam Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel, arrangements related to security, law and order and enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct have been reviewed. The administration has deployed 86 micro observers, along with 69 flying squad teams and 69 static surveillance teams.
Home voting through postal ballots for voters above 85 years of age and eligible persons with disabilities has already been completed under Section 60(C) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Webcasting facilities have been arranged at all polling stations to ensure effective monitoring. Goel appealed to voters to participate in the election and exercise their democratic right to vote.-------------
