Guwahati, 31 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked all ministers to inform the concerned Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in advance about their visits to the respective constituencies, stressing the need for better coordination between the government and elected representatives, CMO informed on Saturday.

In a letter issued on October 30, the Chief Minister observed that during certain field visits undertaken by ministers, the MLAs representing the concerned constituencies were not always informed or involved.

As a matter of good practice, Sarma advised ministers to ensure that local MLAs are informed in advance about their visits. He further suggested that the concerned MLAs be invited to participate in public programmes and official functions attended by ministers.

The Chief Minister also stated that even in departmental meetings and official review programmes where the presence of MLAs is not mandatory, they may be courteously informed in advance.

Sarma emphasised that the practice would strengthen coordination between the government and elected representatives and contribute to the smooth conduct of official engagements.-----------
