Guwahati, 23 October (HS): The closing ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a social media post on Friday.

The Chief Minister said the ceremony would be a memorable tribute to the legendary artiste, whose timeless creations enriched the musical and cultural heritage of Assam as well as India.

Highlighting the enduring legacy of the cultural icon, Sarma said Hazarika's evergreen melodies continue to reside in people's hearts and unite them across generations.

The event is being envisioned as a befitting homage to the legendary singer, composer, lyricist and filmmaker, whose contribution to Indian music and culture remains unparalleled.

The centenary closing ceremony at Bharat Mandapam is expected to celebrate Hazarika's remarkable artistic journey and reaffirm the lasting influence of his music and cultural legacy.----------
