Government Extends RoDTEP Scheme for Three Months Until December 31

New Delhi, 02 October (H.S.): Providing relief to exporters, the Central Government has extended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme for another three months, until December 31, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday, the Department of Commerce, through Notification No. 41/2026-27 dated September 30, 2026, has extended the RoDTEP Scheme until December 31. The scheme was scheduled to expire on September 30 and will now remain in force until December 31, 2026.

According to the Ministry, the scheme will continue to be available for exports made by units in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), holders of Advance Authorisations (AAs), units in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), as well as Export-Oriented Units (EOUs).

The RoDTEP Scheme provides remission of certain embedded, non-creditable central, state and local duties, taxes and cess borne on exported products, including accumulated indirect taxes incurred at earlier stages of production and distribution. The existing RoDTEP rates and value caps notified in Appendix 4R and Appendix 4RE, as applicable on September 30, 2026, will remain unchanged during the extended period.

The RoDTEP Scheme was introduced in 2021. Under the scheme, exporters receive remission of duties, taxes and cess that are not refunded or otherwise compensated under any other mechanism at the central, state or local level. Depending on the product, the scheme provides remission at rates ranging from 0.3 per cent to 3.9 per cent.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the measure reflects the government's commitment to supporting exporters and ensuring a level playing field for them vis-à-vis competing economies in international markets.

It may be noted that Rs.18,232 crore was allocated for the scheme in the financial year 2025-26, while the budget allocation for the current financial year 2026-27 has been fixed at Rs.10,000 crore.
