
Imphal, 10 October (HS): A woman militant cadre and two alleged vehicle thieves have been arrested in separate operations conducted by police and security forces in Manipur. Security operations are continuing across the state to maintain law and order and prevent unlawful activities.
According to an official statement issued by Manipur Police on Saturday, a team of CDO/Imphal West arrested two alleged vehicle thieves on Friday while they were attempting to break the lock of a vehicle at the AMFA Football Ground Complex in Lamlonge Thong. A tool allegedly used for the attempted theft was also seized.
The arrested persons have been identified as Waqar Ahmed (20), a resident of Lilong Upak Thong Makha in Thoubal district, and FM Baboi (20), a resident of Lilong Atou Khong in the same district.
In a separate operation on Friday, a joint team of Imphal East district police and security forces conducted a counter-intelligence operation at Thinungei in Bishnupur district based on specific intelligence inputs. The team arrested Laimayum Naobi Devi alias Nirupama (37), an active woman cadre of the RPF/PLA militant organisation.
According to the police, the woman allegedly concealed a hand grenade at her residence in 2025 at the direction of her handler. Around 15 days ago, she allegedly handed over the grenade to an unidentified person at the main gate of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital.
Police have registered cases in both incidents and initiated further investigations.-----------
